Photovoltaic solar energy

Solar photovoltaic energy takes advantage of solar radiation by transforming it directly into electrical energy through the photovoltaic effect, which consists of the emission of electrons by a material when illuminated with electromagnetic radiation (in this case solar radiation).

There are different photovoltaic technologies (fixed, single-axis solar tracking and dual-axis solar tracking) but most are based on silicon.

Solar photovoltaic installations can be of two fundamental types: isolated installations, mainly oriented towards pumping, signage, communications and rural electrification applications, and installations connected to the grid, oriented towards the sale of electrical energy and self-supply.

The possibilities for the application of solar photovoltaic energy are immense and range from the simplest applications such as solar calculators and clocks to the most complex such as large power plants or power systems for artificial satellites.
