As well as being able to generate electricity directly (solar-thermal and solar-photovoltaic energy), the sun is the origin of all other renewable energy sources.
Thus, it is the sun's heat on the earth and water that causes the differences in pressure that produce the wind, the source of wind power. The sun is also the main driver of the water cycle, evaporating water from the oceans, which falls to the earth as rain, where it becomes a resource for hydroelectric power.
The sun is also the essential driver of photosynthesis, and therefore the origin of the energy used in biomass.
In short, the sun is the source of life on earth and we should utilise its energy and the forms into which nature transforms it.
