It was drafted with a view to reinforcing the priority objectives of the Government’s energy policy: to guarantee the assurance and quality of the electric supply and the respect for the environment, with the determination of meeting Spain’s engagement in the international scope (Kyoto Protocol, National Allocation Plan), and the ones derived from our status of UE Membership.
The strong growth of energy intensity in the last years has been a good reason at the time of drafting the Plan.
As envisaged in the Plan, 21.1% of the total energy consumtion in 2010 will be provided by renewable sources, thus contributing to a production of 30.3% of the electric power gross consumption. Biofuels will contribute 5.83% of the petrol and diesel oil consumption in transport.
The total amount of the envisaged investment for the Plan is 23,598,641 thousands euros.
Its implementation, along with Action Plan 2005-2007, and more recently with new Action Plan 2008 - 2012 (PAE4+), will enable to reduce our energy consumptions and lower our energy dependence from abroad, as well as contribute to a remarkable reduction in pollution.
