Modal change enhancement measures

The enhancement of transport modes with greater energy efficiency regarding transport of persons and goods is one of the basic elements in the energy saving and efficiency policies in transport.

Some of the most outstanding enhancement measures on modal change approved in Action Plan 2008-2012 are the following:




A guide to devise and establish sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMP)

A guide to devise and establish workplace travel plans (WTP)

Collective transport efficient management (IDAE-ATUC)

Enhancement of non-motorised transport systems. Support to public bicycle promotion projects. 

A methodological guide to establish public bicycle systems in Spain.

A bicycle racks manual

PROBICI: cycling mobility guide. Methods and techniques to boost the use of bicycles in urban areas.

Enhancement of projects in favour of changing from goods transport to railway transport.  

Tools to assess energy efficiency in rolling stocks

Approval of invoicing for the net balance between consumed energy and the one poured onto the grid as a result of regenerative braking (Neteo) Royal Decree 1011/2009. First additional provision.

Enhancement of inter-modality mechanisms. 

Support line in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities within Action Plan 2008-2012 for studies to set up intermodal facilities and enhance intermodality. 

Support to efficient school transport.

Support line in collaboration with the Autonomous Communities within Action Plan 2008-2012 to schools for school transport actions.  

The approval of support mechanisms to Action Plan 2008-2012 for these measures is channelled through the Agreements executed between IDAE and the Autonomous Communities.
