Spain does not have fossil energy of its own, like oil or gas, and therefore we have high energy dependence from outside. This dependence makes us very vulnerable before a price-rise of oil and the Spanish economy resents from the overuse of very expensive resources.
We can follow easy behavioural criteria, such as switching of the light, turning down heating, using public transport, etc.
